Pav bhaji is a delicious and filling meal that can be enjoyed as a snack or a main course. It is made with a variety of vegetables, spices, and butter, and is served with soft pav buns. Here is an authentic recipe for pav bhaji that you can try at home:
- 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 cup cauliflower florets, boiled and mashed
- 1 cup green peas, boiled and mashed
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon pav bhaji masala
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt to taste
- 8 pav buns
- 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
- In a large pan, heat the butter & add cumin seeds. Once the seeds start to sizzle, add the chopped onions & fry until they turn translucent.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add pav bhaji masala, red chilli powder, and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Add the mashed potatoes, cauliflower, and green peas to the pan. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium flame.
- Add some water if the mixture is too thick, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are fully cooked.
- Use a masher to mash the vegetables until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Cut the pav buns into halves and heat them on a hot pan with some butter until they are slightly crispy.
- Serve the hot pav bhaji with the pav buns and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
