Maggi 2 Minute Noodles has got to be the ultimate instant noodles that almost all of us have grown up eating and still cook a pack or two every now and then to kill those quick hunger pangs. Although marketed as a ‘2 Minutes’ cook time noodles, it still takes 3 to 4 minutes to properly cook a pack of maggi noodles as per the instructions, excluding the time taken to boil the water that is!
Maggi, Through The Pages Of Time 🕰️
Ask people from the 80’s and they’ll tell you how Maggi noodles were introduced in India as a quick cooking food to help working women at that time ease their task of cooking. However, they would also tell you how people of that era had a a challenging time, developing the taste for Maggi and the fact that noodles were not only just chowmien as they knew before.
Maggi 2 minute noodles had a totally different taste, texture, cooking style and colour that was almost alien to the people in the 80s. Nevertheless, as trends changed, Nestle did extensive R&D to reposition Maggi as a quick filling meal that contained wheat and rice, something that a typical Indian supper would normally have.
After a successful repositioning strategy, Maggi developed a robust brand culture, representing the contemporary Indian spirit, through external and internal cues. Soon ‘Maggi’ became a generic trademark and till date, even when a number of similar products have entered the market, instant noodles are called out as ‘Maggi’ on the shopcounters!
Types Of Maggi 🍜
Nestle initially introduces Maggi in a single flavour called “Masala” which till date, is the best seller for the company. However, noticing the ever growing customer demands, local palate influences and market competition, Nestle introduces several other flavours as well. Some of the prominent ones are:
- Maggi Chicken Noodles
- Maggi Atta Noodles
- Maggi Special Masala Noodles
- Maggi Bengali Jhal Noodles
- Maggi Fusion Noodles
- Maggi Hot Heads Noodles
- Maggi Desi Cheesy Noodles
Some of the flavours are still available in the market while others were not so popular and were discontinued due to lack of demand. Whatever the case may be, Maggi Masala still remains the king of the market and the sales are on a neverending ascend.
