Another must-visit location in Mumbai is Marine Drive, which is a 3.6-kilometer-long promenade that runs along the coast of the Arabian Sea. It is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy a leisurely stroll or watch the sunset.

Pav bhaji is one such food item. A quick, easy, spicy dish that is bound to be a crowd pleaser, is made in most homes across India. Mumbai is also known for its pani puri or golgappa (various names in different languages).

Pav bhaji is a dish which is a spicy vegetable curry served with a soft bread roll called pav and can be made for a big crowd or for one person. It is nutritious, healthy and above all it is vegan (if you skip the butter!). A great accompaniment for pav bhaji is a green chutney, which is tangy, spicy and tasty! The Best Pav Bhaji Recipe:

Pav bhaji is a delicious and filling meal that can be enjoyed as a snack or a main course. It is made with a variety of vegetables, spices, and butter, and is served with soft pav buns. Here is an authentic recipe for pav bhaji that you can try at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup green peas, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon pav bhaji masala
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 8 pav buns
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves

Instructions:

  1. In a large pan, heat the butter & add cumin seeds. Once the seeds start to sizzle, add the chopped onions & fry until they turn translucent.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  4. Add pav bhaji masala, red chilli powder, and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  5. Add the mashed potatoes, cauliflower, and green peas to the pan. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium flame.
  6. Add some water if the mixture is too thick, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are fully cooked.
  7. Use a masher to mash the vegetables until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
  8. Cut the pav buns into halves and heat them on a hot pan with some butter until they are slightly crispy.
  9. Serve the hot pav bhaji with the pav buns and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
