Use This Tomato Sauce Recipe at Home

Ingredients

To make this Tomato Sauce Recipe you will require the:

  • Some fresh tomatoes
  • Finely Chopped Onion: 1
  • Minced Garlic Cloves: 3
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar: 1 teaspoon
  • Oregano dried: 1 teaspoon
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • pepper and salt as desired

Here are the steps to the Tomato sauce recipe

Step-1: Get The Tomatoes Ready

Carefully create a small “X” shaped cut on each tomato. Bring water in a big pot to a boil. Add the tomatoes to the boiling water and blanch them for 1–2 minutes. The skins should start to loosen. To cool off, place the tomatoes in a bowl of iced water. After the tomatoes have cooled, remove the skins. Follow it by chopping the tomatoes into smaller pieces.

Step-2: Adding the flavours of garlic and onions.

Chop some onions on the side. Mince some garlic cloves, mincing as a process refers to peeling the garlic cloves and then chopping them into finer pieces.

In a sizable saucepan set over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the chopped onions and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they are translucent and just starting to brown.

Step-3: Cooking The Sauce

In the same saucepan with the onions and garlic, add the chopped tomatoes. Follow it up by adding the sugar, salt, pepper, dried basil, and oregano. Stirring occasionally, lower the heat to low and allow the sauce to simmer for 30 to 40 minutes.

During this cooking process, the tomatoes will break down and release their tangy flavourful juices resulting in a thicker flavourful sauce.

Step-4: Adjusting the Sauce Consistency

Depending on how you like your sauce, you may skip this step. After the sauce has finished cooking, you can choose to blend the sauce to give it a smoother texture. If not, you can keep going with the more coarse version.

Step-5: Finetuning the Taste

Now it is about how your tastebuds like the sauce, extra sweet, just the right amount of tangy or towards the spicy end. After tasting the sauce, adjust the seasoning to your liking. If more herbs, salt, or pepper are required, add them. Give the sauce a thorough mix to ensure even distribution.

Congratulations! Your safe and delicious homemade tomato sauce is ready to be served. The sauce is free from any preservatives or harmful chemicals. Get creative with it and try it in cuisines from all around the world.
